Imperial - HUST Net zero collaborations

Both the UK and Vietnam have shown significant commitments to address grand challenges related to the global climate change and moving towards sustainable future with net zero pollution. The UK together with the European Union and other nations recently demonstrate strong support a $15.5 billion - Just Energy Transition Partnership package for Vietnam's ambitious Net Zero 2050 goal.

This page is dedicated to collaborative research efforts between Imperial College London and its key partners in Vietnam, in particular with Hanoi University of Science of Technology (HUST) in key Net Zero science and technologies to support the two countries in combating the climate change.

With support from the UK's International Science Partnerships Fund, we organised the 1st UK-VN International workshop on Net Zero in 2023, attracting more than 200 participants. After a great success of the past year's event, we have received an additional fund to create a UK-VN Network for Hydrogen and Related Technologies. Green hydrogen is identified as a key solution to achieve the Net Zero future. With abundant renewable energies, Vietnam has considerable potential to significantly decarbonise its economy using green hydrogen to meet its COP26 commitments while maintaining its business strength and improving the wellbeing of people, and act as a hydrogen hub for neighbouring countries, joining the global’s efforts in combating the climate change and contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13.
